Mercer Automobile Co., Trenton,
New Jersey
F.W. and C.G. Roebling, who built the Brooklyn Bridge, were builders of the almost
equally functional Mercer automobile. Capable of averaging 75 to 95 miles per hour,
the Mercer had excellent road holding abilities. Taken at random off showroom floors,
the Mercer often set distance records without any special preparations. The Mercer
was named after Mercer County, New Jersey, where it was made.
