Location: Seal Cove Auto Museum, Seal Cove, Maine
Reports To: Executive Director
Employment Type: Full-time preferred (flexible; part-time considered depending on experience)

Position Overview

The Seal Cove Auto Museum seeks a highly organized, creative, and strategic development professional to lead and support all aspects of fundraising, donor engagement, and communications. This role offers flexibility in scope depending on experience, ranging from hands-on coordination to full leadership of development strategy.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can both execute day-to-day development tasks and contribute to long-term fundraising strategy, while also managing the Museum’s social media presence and E-newsletter outreach to strengthen engagement and visibility.

Fundraising Strategy & Leadership

  • Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with annual and project goals
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board on development planning and priorities
  • Support and help lead the Development Committee

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors
  • Maintain and update donor database (Little Green Light or similar systems)
  • Oversee gift processing, acknowledgments, and donor tracking
  • Develop donor communications, including targeted outreach and stewardship messaging

Grants & Research

  • Research funding opportunities
  • Assist in or lead grant writing and reporting
  • Maintain organized records of funding applications and outcomes

Events & Public Engagement

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events in collaboration with staff
  • Support event logistics, outreach, and follow-up
  • Participate in evening and weekend events as needed

Communications & Outreach

  • Manage and maintain the Museum’s social media platforms, creating engaging and mission-aligned content
  • Oversee and produce regular E-newsletters to communicate programs, events, and fundraising initiatives
  • Collaborate on marketing and communications to strengthen donor outreach and public visibility
  • Assist with application intake, communications, and administrative processes

Operations & Administration

  • Coordinate meetings, materials, and notes for development-related committees
  • Track fundraising metrics and adjust tactics as needed
  • Maintain project records and support general administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Required
    1–5+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, or a related field (level dependent on role scope)
    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating digital content
    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
    Proficiency in Excel, donor databases, social media platforms, and email marketing tools
    Collaborative, proactive, and flexible work style

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field
  • Experience with donor databases (Little Green Light or similar)
  • Experience with grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising events
  • Experience managing social media accounts and E-newsletter platforms
  • Enthusiasm for the Museum’s mission and community engagement
