A Mount Desert Island summer tradition since the bicentennial year of 1976, the 42nd Annual Strawberry Festival will be held on July 11, 2017 from 1pm to 3pm at the Somesville Fire House. The festival serves strawberry shortcake made with beautiful ripe Maine strawberries and clouds of freshly whipped cream. The strawberry shortcake recipe has been handed down through the years, and is always delicious.
A limited supply of fresh strawberries will be available for sale by the quart. This event will be co-hosted by the Seal Cove Auto Museum and the Mount Desert Island Historical Society, funds will support the educational missions of these organizations. Additional sponsorship was provided by Bar Harbor Bank and Trust and Machias Savings Bank. Come enjoy a delicious summer dessert and get a close-up view of an antique automobile – a 1928 Ford Model A Huckster – on site!
